What are Chemical/Skin Peels
A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure that can be applied to the face area. Chemical peels are used to improve the appearance of the skin and can help treat many skin concerns. During this procedure chemical solutions will be carefully selected and applied to the face which causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off. Once this happens the new skin underneath is often smoother, appears less wrinkled and may have less damage.
The benefits of having chemical peel treatments include, reduced wrinkles and fine lines, correction of sun damage, acne scars, scars, melasma, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone or redness.
At Jas Sanghera Aesthetics and skin clinic we offer both light superficial and medium peels and this treatment includes a luxurious hydrating bubble mask and LED Light Therapy. To achieve optimal results it is recommended to have a course of 6 treatments 4 weeks apart.
FAQs
What can I expect after the first 24 hours after the treatment?
Your skin will feel tighter and may be more red than usual. Your skin may feel tacky and have a yellowish orange tinge that subsides within a few hours. This is due to the Retinoic acid applied to the skin.
When will my skin start to peel and for how long?
Mild peeling generally starts around 48-72 hours after treatment and can last 2-5 days. It is very important not to pick or peel the skin as this may cause dry, cracked raw skin that may develop into hyperpigmentation. Peeling skin is normally easily controlled with applying moisturiser.
How do I care for my skin after treatment?
Use a gentle cleanser no sooner than 4 hours after treatment to wash your face. Exfoliators and wash cloths should be avoided whilst skin is peeling. Applying hydrating moisteriser twice a day or as often as necessary is recommended to relieve dryness and control any peeling. You must use SPF 30+ daily and it’s best to avoid prolonged sun exposure for 1 week post peel.
